Abstract

Objective: The objective of this manuscript is to show the risk-benefit of glioma resection and the loss of function depending on the affected area.

Materials and Methods: A bibliographic search was conducted in the PubMed database, filtering articles using dependent and independent variables.

Results: Navigation techniques, brain mapping, and the management of awake patients allow the resection of tumors in areas that are difficult to access surgically and have neurological function. In our experience, intra-axial tumors tend to displace tracts rather than involve them, so the ability to analyze preoperatively allows us to define safer surgical strategies for lesion resection.
